Komodo Dragon 2

I now have an edited and corrected 3D model for my Komodo dragon cast.

The original polygon mesh from MorphoSource was produced from a CT scan of an actual specimen. There were some errors and disconnected bones in the scan such that resulting model that would not print correctly.

Examples of the disjoint parts that needed repair are shown below:

The final mesh was split into four parts for ease of printing and creating silicone rubber moulds. The skull was split into a left and right side and the lower teeth were separated from the jaw.

I have now contracted with a fellow in Fiver.com in the USA to print these four parts. He has a Sonic Mighty 8k 3D printer. He says he prints everything with 30um layer height and slice files with HD AntiAliasing so layer lines are non-existent. He also uses Phrozen Aqua 8k High Detail Resin or Siraya Tech Fast Tough ABS-Like Resin or Blend of Phrozen 8k and Tough Onyx Resin.

More to come when I receive the printed parts …
