Komodo Dragon 3
The Komodo dragon skull parts are now printed. The final photographs look excellent.

3D printing is not an exact science. There were some initial difficulties but once the printing issues were resolved everything was very successful.
The fellow doing the printing reported:
“I eventually found success for these prints using my new printer (Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 16k) and the Siraya Tech ABS-like Tough resin. It wasn’t the 16k resolution of the printer that did the trick (the 8k of the Phrozen Sonic Mighty would have looked just fine) but rather the printer’s novel “tilt vat” mechanism that reduces peel force when separating the printed layer from the screen doing the UV exposure. The Tough resin was also helpful in that it is more elastic than typical ABS-like resins, so there was more margin for suction cup and peel forces during the print. Due to the size and weight of the parts there are marks left over from the supports on the inside of the pieces, but the exterior showing surfaces are almost entirely clear.“
Some print progress photos follow:

The parts are being mailed to me for pickup at a border station in Washington.
The review I left is shown below:
“My project required the printing of a Komodo dragon skull 3D model in preparation to bronze cast the skull. This model was printed in 4 parts due to complexity. After experiencing a few rounds of failure Devin developed a successful process by adjusting the part orientation and resin used for printing. He showed exceptional perseverance in resolving technical printing issues.
The final prints exceeded all expectations. I would highly recommend Devin for for his skill in printing large complex models.“
When the parts are received the next step is to create silicone rubber moulds so that the pieces can be replicated in wax for casting.
