The Ferruginous Hawk (Buteo regalis) is the largest of the North American hawks. It’s average wingspan is about 55 inches. It can be found in the open country of the American West, including southern Alberta and Manitoba in Canada.

This hawk is shown perched on a spire of petrified wood set alongside a cropping of tourmaline.

Description

This Ferruginous Hawk has been cast in silicon bronze and given a ferric nitrate patina for a rich brown colour.

This hawk contains 130 grams of bronze and has a wingspan of 15.8 cm (6.25 inches).

The hawk is set on petrified wood. An outcropping of black tourmaline is set beside the wood.

The base is walnut.
