This work is titled “Rustic Dance”.
This work shows a scale bronze cast figurine where the girl is playing “Rustic Dance“, one of three simple pieces composed by my great uncle Percy Hilder Miles in August, 1922. My great uncle was a violinist, composer, and professor with the Royal Academy of Music in London, England.
This figure is custom made from solid bronze. My castings are all hot cast using a lost wax process. The music stand is a replica of one made by my great grandfather that I used during my music lessons while studying the violin. And yes, I played the Rustic Dance, too.
This figure is cast in a bronze made from copper and tin known as Ancient bronze. The body, legs, hands and head are cast separately and soldered together. Her hair is cast in a yellow brass. Her violin and bow are cast in a white bronze that looks like silver. Her skirt is also cast in a yellow brass.
Four 3 mm cubic zircon gemstones were cast into the dress.
The music stand was custom made and cast in a silicon bronze. The frame was cut from sheet brass and soldered to a custom copper box frame.
The chair was custom fabricated in wax and then cast from silicon bronze.
The work is made by hand. The figurine and all accessories are pinned and mounted on a composite stone base.
