I have been working to finish my new work for Spruce Meadows. This show is an art show and I will be displaying pieces that are suitable for collection. I have four new works prepared for this show.

None of these works are complete. They still require a patina, enamelling and final polishing and finishing. I may also make small adjustments to the presentation. However, I have essentially completed the stone bases as planned.

Protecting the Booty

My first work is a new rendition of my “Protecting the Booty” sculpture. This work is mounted on a 3 cm thick black granite base with white marbling throughout. It contains a treasure map, a Jolly Roger flag, a functioning cannon, and a pirate wench sitting on a bronze treasure chest that actually opens. The cannon is fully bored. I haven’t actually tried the cannon yet, although I expect it could be fired with with some black powder.

Peter Pan’s Revenge

A have made a new, related work that I think I will call “Peter Pan’s Revenge”. I have taken a different fairy and set her on a treasure chest, again guarded by a functioning cannon.

We can imagine that Peter Pan has stolen Captain Hook’s treasure and has set Tinker Bell to guard it.

The fairy has been cast with yellow brass for her wings and hair. The snail and shells were cast in white bronze.

I have mounted this work on a wonderful piece of quartz agate.

Fairy Twins

This work is a set of matching fairies set on a section of amethyst quartz geode. The twins are essentially identical, except that one has a yellow brass dress with white bronze wings and hair and the other has a white bronze dress and yellow brass wings and hair.

The complete work has been set on a custom base of honey onyx.

Faerie on Twig

I have created a new rendition of my Faerie on Twig sculpture. This is my premier work for the show.

The faerie has been mounted over an amethyst quartz geode set on a custom made base of honey onyx.

Apparently, amethyst quartz purifies negative vibrations to help clear the mind of unnecessary thoughts while retaining the power of consciousness and universal energies. Onyx is known for it’s great ability to inject a posh ambience into your house.
